Eye shadow is perhaps the most beloved cosmetics of creative makeup artists. Since eyes are the most important focal point of the face, the eye makeup techniques and choice of colors for eye shadow should suit the shape and color of your eyes.

Eye shadow is generally available as:

1. powders which come in compact cases or
2. creams in the form of sticks or pencils or
3. paints in the form of tube that will have a creamy effect when applied but gives a powdery effect once it dries

Here are some eye shadow tips to call your own.

* Don't over do it. The first rule of applying eye shadow is not to over do the amount that you apply. You want a great look for your eyes but you do not want to turn into an old lady with layers of eye shadow on your eyes. Instead, go for a minimal look and it will pay off with an amazing look.

* Dark or light? There are many ways in which to apply your eye shadow. Most will apply a darker shade of eye shadow to the area right above the eyelashes. Then, right under the eyebrow, apply a lighter color. You can mix and match the colors that fit with your tastes. You can even apply a thin layer of a darker eye shadow under the eye right next to your lower eyelashes. This will give a more dramatic look.

Eyeshadow Application Tips

* Before using eyeshadow, use a little powder on the eyelid as a base.

* Eyeshadow is available in many shades. On black eyes, chocolate, green or mauve shades are preferred.

* Eyeshadow is commonly found in powder form but it is also available in cream with a sponge-tip wand and in crayons.

* Eyeshadow should be used for night make-up.

Apply Eye Shadow

From your lash line up to your brow, cover the entire eyelid with a light eye shadow as base. A typical eye makeup consists of this base and a medium, slightly darker shade on the lower eye lid. The color may depend on your preference but it will be safe not to go far from your present outfit. A dark rose or a light blue over a cream, pinkish base can be safely neutral, and you can adjust according to the outfit. But then again, this matching of the eye make up with the clothing should not be overdone. A discreet harmony of colors is essential, and a good makeup should not even bring out the colors but the features. Do not forget to blend. The eye color should not be seen as darker color on top of the light one. Use your finger tips or a brush to carefully spread over one eye shadow over the other, making them almost a natural part of the skin. Do not neglect as well the temple part of the head, or the area where the eye shadow ends. This part should also be well blended, with the colors diffusing unto the skin foundation.

Draw a line over the entire upper portion of the lash line using a pencil eyeliner or a liquid one. The thickness of the line depends on the shape of your eyes, a thicker one makes a small, squinty eye look more rounded and a thin one is advisable to those with bigger eyes. Finish off with a mascara to add volume and length into your lashes.

I am convinced that one of the toughest jobs on the planet is that of the stay at home parent. There may not be a hard-and-fast definitive answer to this question because it depends to a great deal on what area you're in. Some jurisdictions sort trash (so if you throw in cardboard they'll pull it out). While burning that produces carbon is rarely a good option, in some areas (where there is already a lot of particulate matter and the air quality index is a chronic issue) than relying a lot on your wood burning stove is not a good thing. The type of incinerator your area uses matters as well--some areas sort the trash use different incineration for different types of waste, for smaller communities it's often "one size fits all." Because of the bad rep that many community incineration programs have, I'm biased to you burning it in your wood stove to help provide heat or as kindling during cold weather--but that's without knowing your jurisdication's incineration details. In short, a definitive answer really depends upon where you are. That said, I think there are a variety of ways you can handle the cardboard other then putting it in the trash or burning it.

1. Depending upon the type of cardboard and what ink it's got on it, it could be excellent composition material in your garden or yard. And if shredded, it could even go into a compost pile.

2. When I had pet mice and hamsters, I used the cardboard for bedding. So there are a range of pets that you could cut up or shred boxes for and then use as bedding instead of commercial products.

3. Check with your trash collection. They may not collect cardboard right now but another trash service might. Or a group of neighbors could band together, pay for one bin and everyone puts their cardboard in.

4. This isn't a continual solution but some types of boxes during some times of the year will be in demand. For instance, end of semester near colleges and universities--students need "moving" boxes. Schools use boxes for storage and big stuff (that held fridges or ovens) for art backdrops. Odyssey of the Mind competitions in March are one example where around the country elementary and secondary kids go dumpster diving looking for big sheets of cardboard to use in their problem presentations. Even if all of this cardboard eventually ends up in the trash, it got a 2nd or 3rd use before it got incinerated or burned up.

5. And part of this is also proactive: buy products that involve less packaging (so there are fewer wrappers, fewer boxes).

A polo shirt, also known as a golf shirt and formerly as a tennis shirt, is a T-shaped shirt with a collar, typically two or three buttons down a slit below the collar, and an optional pocket. A zipper may substitute for buttons, or neither may be present. Polo shirts are usually made of knitted cloth (rather than woven cloth), usually pique cotton or, less commonly, silk, merino wool, or synthetic fibers.

For occasions where the T-shirt is much too informal and it just doesn't seem to make sense to dress it up with a collared shirt, the polo is a wonderful substitute that brings comfort and durability to the table. Due to the popularity of the business-casual concept with many employers nowadays, the polo shirt has made a return to popularity for both the young and the young at heart.

The polo shirt really reaches it's maximum effect when worn casually – it is perfect with jeans, casual pants, and even corduroy! As a matter of fact one of the neatest looks for the fall and winter season is to match a nice pair of corduroy pants to an accompanying polo shirt – perhaps a dark, thick guage corduroy in a shade of chocolate laid out with soft ivory or cream coloured polo. This combination looks great with sneakers for the younger set or with loafers for the older gentlemen.

Pink polo shirts recently were thrust back into the spotlight, heralding a new era of extreme popularity amongst college students and other young men – this popularity extends into the time of the writing of this article and now includes many striped polo's in blues, greens, tans, and browns from trendy mall outlets such as Blue notes or American eagle.

Long-sleeved polo shirts are also an increasingly popular option, especially given the approaching breath and bite of Old Man Winter! The long sleeved polo is usually presented to men in solid colours, although stripes are also coming into fashion in this type of style – this season especially. A long-sleeved polo also makes an excellent gift in that many men do not often think of this possibility in the colder months – many men are in fact not even aware that polo shirts come in a long-sleeved variety!

In many circles, wearing a polo shirt with a necktie and jeans is quickly becoming something of a statement, especially in indie circles or those who have a more eclectic or relaxed attitude toward modern fashion.

Typically this is done with a solid coloured, 100% cotton polo shirt that does not have a button down collar. Popular choices include black polo's matched with a striking white tie, lighter shades of blue matched with red, white, or pink, and of course the ubiquitous pink polo shirt worn with a black or white necktie.

Polo shirts are inexpensive, durable, and are useful in nearly all seasons, for nearly all occasions. Next to denim, the polo shirt in a variety of colours and stripes are an essential in any man's wardrobe.
