Rustic Dining

My dining room is also my entrance room to front door...?

I like my house, but the front door, which has a welcoming front porch, is attached to the dining room, making it the first room you walk into, when coming into the house. This seems odd to me, and I cannot afford reconstruction of the rooms. I would love to read some idea's on how to make the best of my situation. Its important to mention that we have an enormous dining room table, as we have seven children ages 4 to 16. Thanks for your thoughts! Oh, its a rustic look, very dark wood.
I wanted to add that yes, it does have to be the dining room, as its the only room that our table can fit in.

All I can think about is those seven children. I had four and I don't know how you do it! You must be Wonder Woman.

Just make sure that the table is not situated so that it is an obstacle. If you have a china cabinet or a sideboard put it on a wall that you will see what is in or on it when you walk in and not where you walk in and have to walk around it before you see what is in it. (I hope that makes sense).
In other words, the pretty stuff is in view of the front door instead of the sides of things.
